First Time Jitters

I’m nervous. I have it all working: a scattered mind chasing multiple threads, sweaty palms, rapid heartbeat and the flush of expectation. This is simple. Don’t think about it just go with the moment, I tell myself. Millions of people are doing the same thing.  Some go at a rate of once a week, for others it’s every day, and for those lucky few with the energy and moxy to pull it off, a couple times a day. Sounds daunting, doesn’t it. It can’t wait forever, so here it goes.

This little introductory piece is my first official foray into the world of blogging. Keeping that in mind forgive me if I take certain liberties and run afoul of any super secret blogger codes as I cast around for words.

Looking back, it wouldn’t be entirely right to say that I’m brand new to the world of virtual print. In the past I’ve reviewed books for the fellas over at Bullz-Eye.com, but this is a bit different than zipping through a novel and scratching out a critique, saving it to word, attaching the document to email and then hitting the send button. On the other end, the techie guys at Bullz-Eye would do their thing, and then, Voila! Next day, my review would be posted on the site and everyone was happy. For a non-techie writer such as yours truly, the techies were modern day magi, the innerworkings of their websites and blogs, an everchanging world steeped in mystery. But now, I have Joe Unleashed and in theory, can post and beat away at the keyboard like a ritalin deprived teenager wrestling with his angst and a bad case of acne. All I have to do is upload this, link and tag that, and so on.

Instead, when I look at all the apps for the blog, I feel like Lennie Small from Steinbeck’s Of Mice and Men, slow on the uptake and stumbling around some of the finer nuances of blogging. Well done, techies, Well done.

But I remain undeterred. I shall return to Word Press and tinker with the apps until I too can proclaim enlightenment and vanquish the dark cloud of blognorance (I know that’s not a word, but I direct you to the “take certain liberties” paragraph above) forever.  Until that day, read a book or two, or maybe even write your own. I know I will.  But if you do find yourself with nothing to read or nothing worthy of writing about, then you might want to take a peek at my reviews of “The Silver Eagle” and “Straight Down the Middle.”
